Six indispensable techniques, which you must master to be a better college student, are:-

1. Read more and for longer periods of time, (read an entire novel or a complete magazine in single evening).
2. Read always and everything, with a calm, sure, and confident mindset.
3. Read with keen awareness of the structure and word choice (especially verbs) of a piece of writing.
4. Read flexibly, (adjusting your rate and style of reading to what you read and your purpose in reading it).
5. Read so that you interpret more of what you see in less time. Concentrate especially on the first sentence of each paragraph. It's key.
6. Read aloud, especially text books. You see and you hear what you read, which puts two of your senses to work in understanding and remembering what you read.

  Has over 50,000 different serial titles, over 800,000 books, conference proceedings and technical reports 2 million technical reports on microfiche from around the world.

University Libraries:

• McMaster McMaster University Library Online Catalogue.

  Search York's holdings by Author/Title/Subject and Periodical.
• TUG Libraries
  The TriUniversity Group of Libraries (TUG) is a cooperative effort among the Libraries of three Ontario universities; the Universities of Guelph and Waterloo, and Wilfrid Laurier University.

Colleges Local:

• Mohawk College of Applied Arts & Technology
  Offers full-time programs, continuing education, apprenticeship and contract training to more than 50,000 students mainly from local communities. Mohawk is one of the largest colleges in Ontario.
• Sheridan College

Universities Local:

• McMaster University Offers educational programmes through six Faculties. Has 13,000 full-time students, 1,500 of whom are pursuing advanced degrees.
• Charles Sturt University
  Offers the Bachelor of Primary Education Studies, an elementary program for primary–junior teachers, onsite in Ontario. This permission has been granted by the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities and the Accreditation Committee of the Ontario College of Teachers.

Adult Learning · Online Distant Learning:

• VTC Online University
  Offers courses in computer technology online for a fee (some free sample available). Has over 43,327 narrated QuickTime tutorial movies.
• OntarioLearn.com
  Is a consortium of 22 Ontario Community Colleges dedicated to developing and delivering online courses. Today, OntarioLearn.com offers more than 900 courses to thousands of online students each semester.
• Textbook Revolution
  Links to textbooks and select educational resources of all kinds. Some of the books are PDF files, others are viewable only online as e-books. Most books are aimed at college undergraduates.
